Grant's Update
Hi guys!
I've been really busy with plenty of 'green' activities! My best news to date is that I persuaded the local council to increase the number of trees in Gold Coast Parks and they agreed to it. I've been doing some work with UN Youth Association and have written a number for some magazines about climate change and the polar bear's plight. I have also created a brochure which I have distributed to every home in my neighborhood about climate change and sustainable initiatives that they could implement into their lifestyle. Hopefully the mention of the recent Queensland Flood and their painful links to climate change, might prompt more people to get on board and start a sustainable crusade!
After reading on our facebook page that many people were having difficulty finding a business that was eager to give up some of their time to listen to our presentations I have decided to send letters to businesses with all the information that I would cover in the presentation and have found it very successful. I wrote up a cover letter about climate change and the polar bears and also discussed recent mitigation efforts by the UN at Cancun. I included a number of initiatives that I felt would be suitable and practical for any business to implement as well as the business assessment kit and a schedule of all revegetation activities across the Gold Coast that could become their staff community project.
On top of all this we've met with our school sustainability club and have set up mandatory environmental community service projects for each sport house within my school. We're also planning on setting up a green week, a small sustainability forest, getting set temperatures on the air conditioners, school-wide insulation and also getting a portion of the school's annual fundraising money to donate to a number of environmental charities!
I hope everyone is going well and is safe. I look forward to listening to everyone's stories and work!
Best wishes,
Grant :)

Hardy's December Update
Well, the further we get away (timewise) from camp, the busier I seem to get with polar bear stuff. Since my last post, I have seen the garbage truck reorganization into finality. We are now using one less truck a week in collecting garbage. I have continued to do presentations around my community, and at my zoo. I've started to do some fundraising for PBI as I collect donations at my presentations and booths. I have also started to do a lot of work with Project Polar Bear teams from my zoo. It's been a lot of organizing, but a lot of fun.
Up next for me is organizing the year in polar bears at my zoo with the two other Arctic Ambassadors we have. We will also be doing the presentations for our companies.
Happy Holidays!
Yours in ice, and for the bears,
Hardy

Hey everybody!!!
Wow, seems like yesterday we landed in Churchill! Time sure has been flying, and I'm trying to keep up with all of it.
I have been working with my environmental club on trying to get recycling bins and terracycling bins set up around my school, and so far, things are looking pretty good. Everyone in the club is ordering free recycling bins to set up in the quad, and we also have special bins for paper, plastic, batteries, and electronics in the office.
I have also been setting up presentations in my community; I recently did one for the teachers and staff at my school, and had about 20 people show up. I have three presentations lined up for the next few weeks, including one at my elementary school and one at a local hospital.
Let's go save some bears!

Ming's Check-in
Wow, it's already been almost two montsh since I saw all of you last! I hope everyone's been keeping up with our promise to help protect our environment. I got a little too ambitious and signed up to do Project Polar Bear with a friend. I underestimated how short a time 3 months is, and how long it takes to do some things. I'll probably re-enter next year after giving it bit more thought.
Anyways, I started an environmental club at my school called "Eco Club" and we've done a couple things. We were allowed to use the display case by the library in my school, and we put up a display showing ways to be "greener" this season: ie. LED lighting, and wrapping Christmas presents with newpapers instead of store bought wrapping paper. The banner in the display case says "I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas" - pretty good, I think.
Tomorrow, we're partnering with my school's Amnesty Club at their coffeehouse. We will be having a gift wrapping table (with newpapers as wrapping paper) and giving out pre-wrapped boxes and present tags made by reusing old Christmas cards.
I am also trying to work something out with my school cafeteria where students can get a discount if they use their reuseable drink containers/water bottles. I think I got this idea from someone in Churchill? Sorry I can't remember who at the moment. I will be talking with my school principal about this in the new year.
I went to a workshop about greening your school grounds. We will be applying for a grant in March for money to plant some trees and other greenery on school property to create a "green space" for students. There are some other ongoing projects, but they haven't quite got off the ground yet.
Too bad our conference got cancelled for this Saturday; I look forward to talking to everyone again in January!

Rachel Juhnke Check-In
Hello Everyone!
I miss everybody so much!! Since I got back from Churchill (which seems like yesterday) I participated in a Harvest Festival in my community- Kindra, Hali (the keeper who went to Churchill this year) and I set up a booth and talked to adults and kids about buying local food and going green. I am doing a presentation of my trip to the staff members at my school in a couple of days, and I will be presenting to the Biology classes when they have a spare period. I have also been in contact with the hospital I volunteer at, and we are setting up a day when I can come in and talk to rehab patients, staff, and other volunteers about reducing their carbon footprint. I am planning on doing Project Polar Bear over the summer. Hope you all are doing fabulous!

Hardy's Check In
Hey Everyone!
I can't believe it's already beena month since Churchill. Time flies when you're not with the bears.
Just as an update on my activities, I've already done a bunch of presentations to classes in my school and to boy scout troops.
I've been working with my garbage collection company, and I've re-routed their trucks so they use one less truck every week to collect garbage, greatly reducing their carbon footprint.
I have started to work with Project Polar Bear teams in Pittsburgh, and we'll be symbiotically using our projects.
I can't wait for Saturday's call!

Simon's Check In
Hello everybody,
Around one month ago, we were all on Churchill with our dreams and hopes. I can't talk for everybody but I hope that you all continue to work for the polars bears conservation.
In the last month, I have done a lot of things, I got the rights for the songs on a video that I make for you guys. I also find a really nice guy to help me traducing your posts on the french blog.
I also need help from the facilitators, if I want to continue with my project there on Quebec city, I need a chart to mesure the global footprint of the compagny that I choose.
For the others, a lot of people don't became a writer of our blog, for the ones that became a blog writer, I need your help to make them understand how to do it.
If you need inspiration, you should look to my video ...
I am missing all of you ...
